The Troop was excited to head out on the August Campout. We were going to Camp Raymond to shoot some rifles and shotguns in the Council’s open shoot. The drive up was a little long, but it gave us plenty of time to talk and catch up on things. When we got to camp we set up our tents and cooking equipment.
In the morning I made breakfast with a new scout. We cooked breakfast burritos and they turned out really good. After lunch we went shooting at the rifle range. For two of the scouts, it was their first time shooting. We shot .22 rifles as it started to rain. The rain got worse and it started to hail, keeping us from shooting the shotguns. We had fun hiking back to camp in the rain and hail. When we got back to our campsite we discovered that the leader’s tents were completely flooded. Due to the storm and the lightning, we had to leave camp and return to Anthem early. Once we arrived back in Anthem, we had a small birthday celebration for one of the Scouts. Even though this campout was cut short, we made some great memories!
